Dr. Nikolaus Tacke is Managing Director at Hering Schuppener Consulting, one of the leading strategic communications advisors in Europe and partner firm of the Glover Park Group and Finsbury. Heading Hering Schuppener’s Brussels office since April 2016, Nikolaus also serves as Corporate Affairs Coordinator for Europe in their global partnership with GPG and Finsbury. Prior to that, he spent almost fifteen years working for international companies in corporate public affairs and government relations functions, including chief lobbyist of The Coca-Cola Company in Europe from 2008 to 2016, leading their Europe Group’s Public Affairs Service Center in Brussels. Having led numerous successful advocacy and communication campaigns in Europe, Nikolaus advises multinational clients on corporate affairs and public policy strategies, competition and trade cases, and advocacy. He has broad experience in analyzing and shaping EU public policies and legislation in areas such as competition, trade, taxation, innovation, health, food safety, consumer affairs, agriculture, energy, environment and transport. Furthermore, he has in-depth knowledge of the EU institutions’ structures, dynamics and procedures and an excellent network within EU institutions, industry, NGOs and media. As an experienced negotiator and moderator, Nikolaus has a track record in shaping constructive discussions and in building and leading successful alliances and coalitions. He also has strong association leadership experience, having held numerous board and committee chair positions in various EU associations – including the American Chamber of Commerce to the EU (AmCham EU), where he served as Member of the Board and Chairman of the Agriculture and Food Committee for many years. He is also an active member of the Transatlantic Policy Network (TPN) and serves as Chairman of the EU Committee and Member of the Board of the British Chamber of Commerce EU & Belgium since 2016. A German national, Nikolaus is fluent in English and French and has basic knowledge of Italian and Arabic. He holds a PhD in Egyptology and has published a number of books and articles on Ancient Egyptian language, religion and art. He’s also lecturing on public affairs at Quadriga University of Applied Sciences Berlin.
