Please note that this is a task force briefing. You will have 20 minutes at the end of the briefing to suggest ideas of speakers and topics and be able to shape the EU Committee agenda.

At this Competition and Trade task force briefing, Mr. Nicholas Banasevic, Head of Unit C3, Antitrust: IT, Internet and Consumer electronics will discuss the priorities in antitrust in the IT sector. He will also lead us through two recent competition decisions made by the Commission, in particular the Google Shopping and Qualcomm cases.

Head of Unit in DG Competition | European Commission

Nicholas Banasevic is Head of Unit in DG Competition of the European Commission of the unit responsible for antitrust in the field of IT, the internet and consumer electronics. He is Case Manager of the Commission's Google investigations and was Case Manager of the Commission's Qualcomm, Motorola, Samsung, Intel and Rambus investigations. He previously worked in the same Unit as a Case Officer where he was a member of the team that was responsible for the Commission's 2004 Microsoft Decision and the follow-up to that. He has also been Deputy Head of Unit in the Mergers unit for Financial Services of DG Competition, where he was responsible for managing merger cases in the fields of financial services and pharmaceuticals, and was the Case Manager for the Deutsche Börse/NYSE Euronext case.
