The EU Committee is delighted to be joined by Maurits-Jan Prinz, Policy Officer, Chemicals Unit, Dir D2, DG GROW, for a lunch session discussing the current state and future of existing chemical legislation. In his review, Mr Prinz will put special focus on the existing EU legislative framework for chemicals and the on-going evaluation actions - Fitness Check on Chemicals Legislation.

Maurits-Jan Prinz is a policy officer at the European Commission in Brussels, where he has worked in the chemicals unit of the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW) since 2013. His responsibilities include the implementation of the Commission's Better Regulation Agenda in the chemicals field, as well as overseeing the implementation of the EU Regulation on classification, labelling and packaging (CLP) and the EU Directives on Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). He has represented the European Commission in various OECD and UN Working Groups related to chemicals. Prior to joining the European Commission, Maurits-Jan worked in both the public and private sector in the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. He has a Master's of Science degree in molecular biology from Radboud University Nijmegen.
