Catherine Bearder MEP
First elected in 2004, Catherine Bearder is known as a passionate and committed local campaigner and a strong voice in Europe for her constituents and the Liberal Democrats. A former local government councillor and development officer in major national charities, she has a long record of fighting for local people and the issues that concern them. Catherine is a member of the Parliament's Committee on the Environment, Public Health & Food Safety and a member of the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality. She is also an active Member of the Joint Parliamentary Assembly with Parliamentarians from African, Caribbean and Pacific states, speaking mostly on environmental and social issues.
